Join a stroll in Europe’s best-preserved mining landscape from the 16th and 17th centuries Gruveåsen in Funkelia is full of exciting cultural monuments, beautiful nature, ponds, mines and gutters. Now you can join the acquaintance and the man behind much of the work in Gruveåsen on a guided tour in the mine hill. You will, among other things, visit the site / mine and the cross, before we follow the Silverworks’ “Gutter system” which originally consisted of approx. 50 artificial ponds and 50 km of walled gutters that collected and led operating water to the water wheels that drove pumps and ore lifts in the mines. Work on this began at the end of the 17th century and continued throughout the 18th century. The area we are to move around in is virtually untouched after the operation in the 18th century. Along this road we will stop at several of the historical cultural monuments. There will be a lunch break at one of the many picnic areas the volunteer gang has created.
